About Me

Education: I have a BA in Social Work from San Francisco State University, an MA in Counseling/Psychology from Sonoma State University and an MFA in Creative Writing: Poetry and Literature from San Francisco State University.

I have studied Client Centered, Family Systems, Gestalt Therapy, and Jungian Psychology, in formal training courses.  In addition, I have many hours of Continuing Education courses and workshops to stay abreast of new and relevant theories, approaches and research, including: Couples Counseling, Rational Emotive Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Issues of Chronic Illness, Aging and Grief.

My own particular interest is in the use of the Creative Imagination, metaphor, story and imagery, especially how these open to the Spiritual life.

Experience: Thirty plus years of independent practice with varied and diverse populations in both public and private settings. I was an Instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College teaching Guidance courses and Women's Issues, an Instructor at Dominican University teaching writing and literature courses, and an Instructor at City College of San Francisco teaching writing courses.

I have provided numerous training and workshops through public agencies and managed care organizations. Topics including Life/Work issues, Managing Stress and other emotional health topics.

Philosophy/Values/Beliefs:

I believe everything is admissible, everything comes to the table, and that my clients are capable of gaining from therapy what they need. My approach is eclectic and flexible, meaning I meet you where you are in your life and provide the tools best suited to you in the moment. I am not fixed on any one approach.

Individuals are integral beings, body, mind, and spirit.

People need community, connection, and meaning in their lives.

Love and work, in whatever forms, are at the core.
